Lake effect snow warning today

A headline that heralds the outset of warnings for lake-effect snowfall in Great Lakes regions where cold air superimposes on the relatively warm water strongly covered lakes.

Western New York: Counties experiencing this warning include Erie, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Wyoming, and Allegany. Areas could see quite a few feet of snow at some locations while maxima are anticipated for the ridges straddling Chautauqua and the Southtowns of Buffalo.

Northwest Pennsylvania: Erie County has declared a snow emergency. Expected to be on and off through Tuesday, snow accumulation presents restrictions and substantial travel interruptions.

Northeast Ohio: Lake-effect snow is coming on quite strongly now, with advisories in places such as Ashtabula and Lake counties east of Cleveland. Localized bands could deposit upwards of one foot of accumulation.

Travel is highly discouraged in the affected areas, and citizens should prepare themselves for power cuts, difficult driving conditions, and possible road closures. At the same time, it is time for residents to be aware and keep up with the status updates from the relevant local authorities.
